Meet Luminary Member, Stephanie Flor

Tell us a bit about yourself! How did you get started with your current career path/business journey?

Beauty has been my gateway into a life of challenge, change, and transformation. It’s been my life alchemy, from an East-Coast small-town Latina with HUGE dreams to my 15 year career as a global celebrity and runway makeup artist rife with burnout but full of passion, to creating and cultivating Around the World Beauty, a world-class travel company and conscious beauty destination. With my Big Dream to restore Beauty to its heritage and sacred source, I found my own healing, and my own deeply rooted desire to share this more with with the world. That is truly the beginning of this wild beauty journey.

How are you overcoming challenges during the pandemic as a business owner?

I own a travel company, our business was put on a BIG hold. I'm overcoming by staying present in the good I do have, and also understanding that I know this change is for me.. it is as its always meant to be for me to grow and learn. Yes I lost money, yes 8 years of building my business has disappered overnight but Ive had full trust to see beyond this moment. What I am called for bigger than my expectations on myself and business. Maybe it's simply being a daughter, aunt, and sister able to listen. It has been challenging and I've launched our destination inspired beauty boxes which has helped me raise more awareness to my business during this time.

What behavior or personality trait do you most attribute your success to, and why?

Execution. I'm not the kind of person that has to get it right, but I just have to start.

What’s a mistake you made early on in your career, and what did you learn from it?

To be successful you have to be able to enroll people in your mission. Being a powerful leader is a balance of assertiveness with compassion. I used to lead just to get it done vs having others feel part of something. I now empower my team to show up and be seen. I don't need to have all the answers.

What’s one professional skill you’re currently working on?

I've owned a business my whole life. I've built skills that I'm working on translating to a corporate position. Speaking the lingo, and understanding the corporate structure are skill that I'm flexing during this time. I'm ready for what is next.

In what ways are you taking care of your personal well being and what are your #selfcare tips?

Self-care are morning walks, creating a weekly schedule to understand what are priorities in my business, and also enjoying life with friends and family. Self-care for me is having present conversations, and moments sharing in simply being alive. When I start my day it's that awareness that grounds me to see the beauty on what I want and choice to create in my day.

How are you inviting others to take a seat at the table #virtually?

We started a meet-us-here-anytime-anwhere virtual destination on Mighty Networks while also launching beauty boxes inspired our tours to Morocco and Latin America. Delivered right to your door, each beauty box is a mini immersion into a destination and culture, with premium ingredients sourced from around the world and our signature line of conscious beauty.
