Tell us a bit about yourself! How did you get started with your current career path/business journey?
I’m Nashira, a financial health mentor and owner of a personal finance practice called Breaking Cycles where I help women improve their relationship with their money. My mission is to provide the resources, tools and motivation for purpose driven professionals to achieve their version of financial success so they can live their life by taking control of their finances, not having their finances control them. I spent 14 years in corporate America before going full time in business for myself. Being a single mom in the most expensive city on 1 income, budgeting was the answer to my financial problems. Like many of my clients, I struggled committing to goals without dealing with the emotional and relational aspect of money. That led me to Kansas State University where I completed my graduate certification in financial therapy. We’ve been debt free since April 2018.
What behavior or personality trait do you most attribute your success to, and why?
What’s a mistake you made early on in your career, or in your business, and what did you learn from it?
I was ashamed to ask for help. I thought because I had a degree in Business I thought I should have it all figured out.
What’s one professional skill you’re currently working on?
Leadership.
How do you invite others to take a seat at the table?
I am open to sharing everything I learned along away.
What is one thing you wish you knew a year ago?
Conversations are key component to building my business.
