Tell us a bit about yourself! How did you get started with your current career path/business journey?

After 20+ years in the Corporate world and 6 years living and working abroad, I returned to the USA looking to reconnect. I left my current company and joined a start-up, boutique HR firm where I was able to leverage my career (and life) experiences to drive outcomes for a diverse range of clients while also continuing my coaching practice focused on women in transition (including expatriates). After visiting and working from Luminary, many times, I finally joined at the start of 2020 (before pandemic). Despite the timing, it has been a pleasure to be a part of the Luminary community.

What behavior or personality trait do you most attribute your success to, and why?

Agility- not just in behavior but also with mindset. Understanding that the paradoxes we navigate in life give us an opportunity to see the world (and ourselves) from different perspectives or a different lens has been one of the most rewarding aspects; holding two things to be true requires us to exam agility in a totally different way.

What’s a mistake you made early on in your career, or in your business, and what did you learn from it?

Not listening to my body or ignoring signs of fatigue. Early in my career, I was temporarily paralyzed from the waist down and spent 3 weeks in the hospital and learning essentially to walk again...it is easy to go hard because we are so achievement-driven that we might dishonor the needs of our body (and our minds). I have learned that self care is daily practice that requires both discipline and rituals.

What’s one professional skill you’re currently working on?

Agility- same answer as what has made me successful. Life throws many things our way and our ability to re-adjust, re-calibrate and re-affirm can be difficult during those times. I have a wonderful community and coach to keep me accountable on daily basis. For that I am grateful.

How do you invite others to take a seat at the table?

By ensuring they are bringing the best of themselves to the party! We do not want to just sit at the table but we also want to share, learn, contribute and "feast" collectively. Inviting others means recognize the unique and valuable contributions each person brings.

What is one thing you wish you knew a year ago?

How incredibly useful the ability to pivot fast has been the last 16 months. Things move fast and sometimes our ability to respond swiftly (and thoughtfully) . I was able to do this with my coaching practice and reach a broader audience which has been personally and professionally very rewarding.

What impact has Luminary made in your career? eg: Business Generated, Revenue, New Clients, Career Connections, Advancement Opportunities

Luminary has served as an anchor point of continuity in spite of the circumstances of life. In light of COVID and other events, there has been a place to call home --even on the hardest days--and support of others just a click or virtual or in-person smile always within reach.
