Luminary Member Lauren Banyar Reich Shares Her Journey to Becoming a Founder

LBR Headshot - Lauren Banyar Reich

Tell us a bit about yourself? For over fifteen years, I have been helping business thought leaders, luxury and consumer brands and professional service providers tell their stories to key audiences and influencers. In January 2015 I founded LBR PR, a boutique agency that combines high-touch service and impactful results with transparency and authenticity that is unique to the PR world. With this distinctive approach to public relations and strategic communications, we have helped our clients grow their businesses. Whether the goal is to heighten brand awareness, drive website traffic, grow market share, sell products and services or develop thought leadership platforms the LBR PR team creates a customized campaign that moves the needle every time.

How did you get started with your current career path/business journey? I picked PR and Journalism as my major in college and never looked back. I feel like I was a born communicator and through our work with clients, I can use these skills every day in ways that affect real change for their businesses. Opening my own agency was simply the next step - I saw (and still see!) a better way for the agency model to evolve and feel that it is so important not to lose talented ambitious women to the (unnecessary) grind of the current model. So we've found a better way to work, one that is a WIN for clients with senior-level strategists on every project, a WIN for my team with flexible work schedules and meaningful work, and a WIN for me - being able to work for great clients and with amazing women.

What do you find is the most rewarding aspect of what you do? Being able to SHOW that there is a better way to run an agency than I have seen in the past - and to be able to provide high-level work for clients and my team. You don't have to work harder, just smarter - and while you MUST be fantastic at what you do, work does not have to be the entirety of who you are.

How are you inviting other women to take a seat at the table? By constantly seeking out partnerships with other businesses so that we can grow and be stronger together.

What impact has Luminary made in your career? It was an unexpected surprise to walk into Luminary and see familiar faces from the world of women entrepreneurs in NYC. Not just familiar, but trusted and respected. Instantly it felt like being a part of a community and that feeling grows every day I spend in the space.
